Community Involvement
At TN Design Associates we feel it is vitally inportant to get involved at a community level to lend our professional expertise to those in need and to bring more visability and educate the general public about the profession of architecture and good sustainable design.
We recently partnered with Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties "Agents for Change 2010" to bring new life to some existing spaces, for the Institute for Human Services IHS Womens & Families Homeless Shelter, so they could provide enhanced services to those who really need it.
We renovated Two areas for IHS. One was a Family Room, which was a cluttered disorganized classroom style setting which was in need of a makeover. We replanned the space by divided it into serval hubs for various activities that IHS requested, gave the walls a fresh coat of soothing sea foam green and the removed an outdated ceiling and provided a bright white paint to enhance and even out the room's lighting. Additionally, the current Learning Center under went a major updating as well. We removed the existing 8 foot high ceiling tiles and grid to expose a wonderful two story space with ample natural light, the ceiling grid was partially replace down the center at approx 10' high leaving a gap on the sides to allow the natural light to filter in, while the creation of a focal point at the back of the room drew you into the space.
Other projects included teaming up with the Junior League of Honolulu for a resource room for the YWCA and two years of participation in their "Christmas in April" program targeting much needed repairs to existing low-income families.
